The Missing LOKPAL

I would like to bring to your notice about a missing person. He is an ombudsman in India with jurisdiction over all members of Parliament and Central Government Employees in cases of corruption. But he has gone missing!!

Few days back there were lots of protest on Delhi streets, people spent days at road, took a stand against the water gun and spent days without food. It was an eye opener for the people of India and it showcased the importance of this person. Even a political era began out of this movement. So who is this person. He is the LokPal and he is the one man that can fight all corruption for us. Did I say he is the only one who can fight corruption!! I can bet you cant agree with me on this. But that is the concept behind the lokpal.

The party who started out of the lokpal movement couldn't keep its own internal lokpal. Also the party who resigned on lokpal issue last time is not even talking about it now. The reason we need to understand is that the politicians are allergic to lokpal. So they don't want to put a check on themselves. To my surprise lokpal was first introduced in 1968 and then was introduced in 1971,1977, and 1985. But still the Lokpal is Missing.

We need to understand that the fight against corruption is a fight that we all have to fight. It is not that a LokPal will stop all corruption. We can win if we have the will and trust in our system. The virus has spread in the system but still we need to believe that the whole system is not affected. If we have corruption, we still have honesty. To fight against corruption we need to make sure that we don't practise any corrupt practises under any circumstances. So are you ready to stand in line in a traffic jam or are you looking how to go on wrong side and get home. It is as simple as that.
