Land Bill ! The much hyped topic in Indian Politics. It came as Sanjeevani and gave a new life to ailing Congress party. The leaders of the Congress party used it aggressively against the popular Modi Government and showed that the government is anti poor and pro corporate. The Strange thing was that the government also decided to stand its ground on the topic. Many supporters are still confused as why the government is allowing its opposition to use this weapon against them.
Let them fight and do what is good for India. But I would like to ask you whether you really know what is in the land bill and how it is going to affect us. The reason I am asking is that it is not a new thing, it was even there before independence but we never talked about it but suddenly why everyone is talking about it. I was also surprised by this so I decided to find out. Thanks to Congress for starting a website (http://www.zameenwapsi.com/) to give details on the topic.
But to my surprise I found that there are only three land bill acts - 1894 act, 2013 act and 2015 Ordinance. There was an amendment in 1984 as well. So it means that till 2013 we were using an British era law for land acquisition. But nobody questioned it. the 1894 act was worse then what is coming in 2015 which congress is opposing with all its might. They enjoyed having a relaxed law for all their tenures and now saying that the other party is going to misuse it. Isn't it Strange !!.
It may be that it took more than 50 years for congress to realise that the law they were using was not appropriate for farmers or it may be an intelligent political step to cut the wings of the coming government. After this statement I will be given a tag of pro BJP but still by heart I am an Indian and as an educated person I want to apply my logics.
We have chosen a government and given it a record mandate. But if we don't allow it to work freely then how can we expect development. How can we trust the party who has just lost an election and is thinking to stop the Government development work in order to gain back its popularity. I would say the Government need to find a way in order to get the confidence of everybody and should not just keep silent on the issue. They need to do proper amendments so that everybody can trust their decision.A country can't progress without farmers but don' forget it cant progress without corporates as well.
Moreover may be the intention is good now , but the law needs to be strict so in future nobody can misuse it. !!
